Anita Ronis is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC).


Anita has been a practicing therapist specializing in addiction treatment for more than twenty-five years treating individuals, couples and families.


In 1991, Anita joined the clinical team at Freedom Institute as a consultant facilitating a variety of recovery groups. In 2003, Anita became a clinical staff member and in 2005 was asked to become Freedom Institute's Executive Director.



In 2010, Anita stepped down from her role as Executive Director to focus on her passion of engaging in  direct clinical work. Anita now has a thriving private practice serving families, couples and individuals who suffer from alcoholism, addiction, anxiety and depression.



In June 2010, Anita was awarded Caron's Community Service Award for Outstanding Addiction Professional and in September of that year was invited by Music Cares to join Judy Collins as an expert speaker on "Women in Music in Recovery" . Recently Anita was honored by The Meadows for her dedication and commitment in treating trauma in the field of addiction. 


Anita resides in Manhattan's Upper East Side with her husband.
